FTD Member Support Ideas

Many FTD Members have asked for ideas on how to support the United States troops in their local communities, and what are appropriate ways to get involved. As we all understand, this an extremely sensitive time for our country. With hundreds of thousands of families directly affected by the deployment of the U.S. troops and the uncertainty our nation is facing, FTD offers the following suggestions for interested members to get involved in their communities.

The American Red Cross
Since the mid-1800s The American Red Cross has provided services to all members of the armed forces. With nearly 1,000 local chapters across the U.S., the American Red Cross welcomes volunteers. Contact your local chapter of the American Red Cross to find out how you can help in your community to support the armed forces and their families. Visit www.redcross.org or (202) 639-3520.

The Yellow Ribbon Campaign
FTD Members, Brook Jacobs from Greenbrook Flowers, Inc. in Jackson, Miss., reaches out to his community by distributing yellow ribbons to each of his shop customers. This outreach can provide a sense of community to those who are looking for a way to support the armed forces at this sensitive time.

"Our staff came together to discuss ways to get involved among our community to help support the troops," said Brook Jacobs, owner of Greenbrook Flowers and founder of FTD® Good Neighbor Day®, the FTD Member holiday providing an opportunity to reach out into your neighbors spreading goodwill, love and friendship. "Joining together with our staff, customers and the city of Jackson to wear yellow ribbons in support of the loved ones who are working hard to defend our country was how we could feel connected as a community."

Contact Your Local Government Officials
Many communities are providing ways to reach out to their residents, their families, and the country through local programs. Feel free to contact your local government officials to ask how you can be of help.

FTD Members who have questions regarding appropriate ways to reach out to their communities are welcome to contact the FTD Member Relations Department at prdept@ftdi.com.
