FTD FILLS THE MONTH OF MARCH WITH QUALITY EDUCATION

DOWNERS GROVE, IL. (March 17, 2005) - This March, FTD is pleased to showcase education leadership in the floral industry by bringing innovative programming directly to florists in their own communities. FTD supports local floral industry organizations by providing quality education programming presented by the FTD Education Team. This team travels around North America providing a forum for discussion of business-building ideas and revenue generators, as well as helping to spark the creative side of shop designers and marketers.

FTD will kick off the season with events throughout the month of March, providing florists with opportunities to generate new ideas for their shops. Following are key programs florists will enjoy at upcoming industry events.

"Gifts of the Earth" by FTD Design Instructor Toomie Farris AIFD, AAF
As we know, many professional floral artists often respond, "in nature" when asked from where they draw their inspiration. However, simply working with organic materials does not necessarily convey the true feeling of nature. The true feeling of nature is an awareness of how plants and other earth materials grow and evolve - and it must be studied in order to accurately recreate those "Gifts of the Earth". In this program, FTD Design Instructor Toomie Farris will explore the concepts of Vegetative Design, demonstrating the principals of line, material selection, color and more. Also, in this informative symposium, Toomie will showcase practical applications with high consumer appeal. "Gifts of Earth" will be featured at the Michigan Floral Association Spring Conference on March 5, 2005 as well as the South Dakota Florists Association Convention the first weekend in April.

"Intimate Parties" by FTD Design Instructor Tina Stoecker AIFD, PFCI
In the floral industry, we are reminded everyday that not every party or wedding client has an unlimited budget. Therefore, the most rewarding challenge is to create amazing designs that enhance the theme, thrill the customer and "wow" the guests. Through this class, Tina explores unconventional ways to design and sell table centerpieces and party accessories to the customer on a restricted budget, as well as creative new ideas on how to up sell. "Intimate Parties" is scheduled for the Northeast Floral Expo on March 6, 2005.

"Put Some Pizzazz in Your Everyday Work" by FTD Design Instructor Deborah De La Flor AIFD
Deborah De La Flor demonstrates how to turn everyday designs into works of art that customers won't soon forget. This class will walk through creative ideas on adding that special touch to your work, incorporating the latest in design and accessorizing techniques and products, and also thinking outside of the box and opening your mind to inspiration. "Put Some Pizzazz in Your Everyday Work" will be presented at the Virginia Allied Florist Association Convention on March 12, 2005.

"Creative Everyday Designs" by FTD Design Instructor John Klingel AIFD, AAF, PFCI
This program is designed to enlighten florists and floral designers on the possibilities in everyday work. With the creative use of FTD Marketplace and fresh floral products, John will unveil innovative design ideas that you can sell with enthusiasm every day, for all occasions. This program will help you to realize your own signature style, which will result in you creating brand recognition. Plus, you will find best ways to take your signature style and develop cash and carry specials that will generate additional sales. Participants will gain valuable insights on communication and pricing strategies enabling them to do the most professional job possible. This presentation will be featured at the Wisconsin & Upper Michigan Florists Association's Spring Conference on March 13, 2005.

"Color In Style" by FTD Design Instructor J. Keith White AIFD
Experience the latest color and design trends influencing the floral marketplace. This is a symposium of stylish and creative designs showcased into popular consumer choices.
